Working to Advance STEM (Science Technology Engineering and Mathematics courses) Education For African Women. WAAW foundation is a group which was founded in the year 2007, with the purpose of promoting STEM education for African women. With the future of employment opportunity globally requiring computer education, it is necessary that the African woman is introduced to computer education at the young age as to secure a future in the society
The foundation is currently established in Texas (USA) and in Nigeria and hopes to expand to other African countries, So far the group has been able to reach out to many African countries such as South Africa, Uganda, Rwanda, Ghana, Togo, Malawi, Tanzania and Kenya with its STEM chapters.
Currently WAAW foundation is running a program called “She Ask Africa” for men and women in Lagos state, teaching them how to use the computer professionally and also a training program for IDPs(Internally Displaced People) in Durumi, Abuja. The foundation also has a STEM camp in Lagos for African girls coming up in July.
There is no doubt the goals of this foundation which is to see more woman in Science and Technology can be archived and we wish them the best in achieving their goals.
