Social Innovations are new strategies, concepts, ideas and organizations that meet the social needs of different elements which can be from working conditions and education to community development and health — they extend and strengthen civil society. Social innovation includes the social processes of innovation, such as open source methods and techniques and also the innovations which have a social purpose.
This concept though effective, has little influence in the Nigerian sphere. This necessitated the orchestrating the maiden edition of a round table discussion on this trivial subject matter. The scope of this event generated support from a wide array of partners who pulled their resources in to make the event a success.
The event featured kicked off with an overview of the host partners activities as regards social innovation and led into a media session where practical concepts of the subject matter was clearly highlighted with reference to other African countries. The event had exposition sessions to demonstrate the impact and current efforts of social innovation in Agriculture and Tech in Nigeria.
High point of the event was the panel session were the subject matter was discussed across several fields ranging from Agriculture, Health, Education, Technology and Open data. This event paved way to more talks around social innovation as the networking session was gratefully instrumental in affording participants the opportunity to leverage on other resources of other participants
